Furniture ｜Artek Model 65 Chair by Alvar Aalto (Birch)

Artek Model 65 dining chair designed by Alvar Aalto. Model 65 is the version with the lower backrest compared to Model 66 that has the same shape backrest but higher. This chair was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1935. They're made in Finland from solid birch wood, with a veneered seat and backrest. Alvar Aalto created a way to bend the wood by carving slits in them, curve them and then glue them again. This method was used before the more popular, easier and cheaper way of bending plywood was invented.
