For Your Consideration｜ Other Products ｜Bardstown Bourbon Company Collaborative Series Goose Island Bourbon County

Goose Island's Bourbon County Brand Stout is the beer that invented the barrel-aged stout category in 1992, aged in fresh bourbon barrels until it tastes of the whiskey — and Bardstown Bourbon Company sent the whiskey back into the beer's barrels. This Collaborative Series release is a bespoke blend of 6- and 7-year Kentucky bourbon aged an additional 12 months in freshly emptied Bourbon County Stout barrels from the Chicago brewery, casks that had already made the round trip from distillery to brewery and now came home carrying the stout's roasted malt, chocolate, and residual sweetness. Breaking Bourbon found a quick burst of rye spice, malted barley, dry oak, and chocolate malt balls, with the stout finish shining through and lingering — a whiskey stout-cask-finished bourbon lovers will want to seek out. Expect a nose of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, brown sugar, and vanilla over classic Kentucky caramel and oak, opening into a rich, slightly sweet palate where the stout's malt and cocoa wrap around the bourbon's spice, finishing long on chocolate, char, and a gentle bitterness like the beer itself. It follows Bardstown's earlier Founders KBS Stout finish and sits alongside Collaborative Series partnerships with Foursquare rum, Amaro Nonino, Amrut, and Maison Ferrand Cognac — a series built to highlight the art of cask finishing by borrowing barrels from the best in beer, wine, and spirits. For the drinker who loves both a barrel-aged stout and a Kentucky bourbon: this is where they meet.
