Eda Rhyne Distillery's Appalachian Fernet is what happens when one of America's most biodiverse mountain regions meets centuries of Italian amaro tradition — and the result is something genuinely unlike any other fernet on the market. Named after a ghost as mysterious as some of its ingredients, Eda Rhyne is located just outside Asheville, North Carolina, where owners Rett Murphy and Chris Bower have turned generations of Appalachian folk medicine knowledge into a craft spirits program unlike anything else in the country. The Appalachian Fernet incorporates over 40 botanicals, many wild-foraged from the Blue Ridge Mountain slopes surrounding the distillery — primarily bittered with roasted dandelion root, with sumac, sassafras, wild mints, and elderflower among the featured botanicals, fortified with non-GMO Appalachian corn distillate and aged a minimum of six months in red wine barrels. A literal bouquet of fresh mint varieties hits the nose — more like freshly slapped mint than the mentholated character of conventional fernets — while the palate rides a wave of cacao, bitter orange, sarsaparilla, allspice, white pepper, and pine resin. Platinum at the ASCOT Awards. Non-chill filtered at 40% ABV — this is mountain bitterness done beautifully. Buy Eda Rhyne Appalachian Fernet online with fast shipping right to your door.
