First introduced in 2000 by Paul Joseph of California's CVI Brands, the label was never a distillery — but its early releases, produced by Julian Van Winkle III and widely believed to include wheated bourbon from the legendary Stitzel-Weller distillery, made it one of the most coveted sourced-bourbon names of the modern era, with later Kentucky Bourbon Distillers bottlings reaching up to 22 years old. Expect dark caramel, vanilla bean, toasted oak, dried cherry, and leather on the nose, moving into toffee, maple, cinnamon, cocoa, and orange zest, with a long, mature finish.
