Gregarious Grump 30 Year Fins Bois Cognac is the oldest of the independent bottler's single-cask releases: one barrel of Fins Bois cognac, aged thirty years in a grower's cellar and bottled at its natural cask strength of 52.9% ABV with no coloring or chill filtration.Three decades in oak transform the Fins Bois fruit into something deep and layered: dried fig, prune and candied orange, walnut and leather, old polished wood, beeswax and a pronounced nutty rancio, on a rich, oily palate with a finish that lasts for minutes. The strength has mellowed with age and it drinks beautifully neat, though a drop of water opens it further.Thirty-year cognac at cask strength for this price is close to unheard of, and this 750ml bottle is a strictly limited outturn.
