Yushan Single Malt Sherry Cask Taiwan Whisky is the sherried expression from Nantou Distillery in the mountains of central Taiwan, named for Yushan, Jade Mountain, the island's highest peak. This single malt is matured in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 40% ABV in a 700ml bottle. The sherry wood gives it a rich bouquet of sweetmeats, dark chocolate and dried fruit over a deep, robust body. The palate is intense and sumptuous, with dried plum, caramel toast, orange cake, cocoa and assorted fruit, and the finish is complex and long-lasting with a hint of smoked sandalwood. Taiwan's subtropical heat drives the sherry influence deep. Sip it neat after dinner. This bottle is a remarkably rich sherried single malt for the price.
