"A transformative work for the Providence, Rhode Island band, ‘You Won’t Get What You Want’ marked Daughters' 2018 return after years of hiatus. The album shifts from the band’s earlier mathcore roots to a bleak, noise‑infused post‑punk landscape, marked by industrial textures, pummeling percussion, and Alexis Marshall’s tortured, surreal vocal delivery. With its sense of suffocating tension and mounting dread, the record received widespread acclaim as an unflinching, harrowing artistic statement that expanded both the band’s sonic palette and audience.” - Ipecac Recordings
