Gloria Saunders arrives at a quiet, bayside hotel for a relaxed evening. But the tranquility of her stay is quickly interrupted when a trio of men violently kidnap her, bringing her to a strange club. Confused and frightened, Gloria is soothingly informed that she is to be the centerpiece of an elaborate sexual performance which will fulfill her deepest longings and hidden desires, only to have no memory of the experience after it concludes. With no choice but to participate, she is prepared and brought on stage where anonymous lovers of all types begin to emerge through the mysterious green door.
A low budget, but highly ambitious effort which would become one of the biggest X-rated hits of the 1970s, The Mitchell Brothers' landmark BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR made an international sensation and bonafide star out of its leading lady, Marilyn Chambers (Rabid), while also becoming one of the first hardcore features to win mainstream acclaim for both its technical innovation and artistic merits.
With a supporting cast including Johnnie Keyes (SexWorld), George McDonald (Powder Burns), NFL star Ben Davidson (The Black Six), and many more figures from San Francisco’s underground and counterculture art scenes, which helped further develop its cult reputation, BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR at last comes to 4K UHD and Blu-ray, from the Mitchell Brothers Film Group. This genre classic is newly restored from its 16mm camera original alongside a bountiful selection of special features, including a bonus CD containing its outstanding original soundtrack.
