In the Spotlight｜Brucato Amaro Woodlands Reserve Liqueur｜ Other Products

Brucato's base Woodlands already earned a Gold Medal at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, built around elderberry, cocoa nibs, black fig, and citrus macerated into a Napa and Sonoma Valley grape brandy — dark, chocolatey, and berry-forward, inspired by the foggy live oak woodlands along the California coast. This Reserve expression takes that same amaro and rests it in a freshly emptied 53-gallon Evan Williams bourbon barrel, softening the cacao and dark fruit into something noticeably smoother and more velvety, layered with real vanilla, caramel, and coconut from the wood. It's a genuine evolution rather than just an oak-flavored version of the original — each sip reveals more depth as it opens up, whether sipped neat or over a large ice cube. Worth knowing: independent reviewers found the standard Woodlands' finish a little soft compared to its siblings, so the Reserve's extra time in barrel may be exactly what closes that gap by adding real weight and a longer, warmer finish. This is built for slow sipping as a digestif, though it holds its own in a Black Manhattan or Boulevardier riff too.
