Corsair Triple Smoke American Single Malt Whiskey is the whiskey that put Corsair Distillery of Nashville, Tennessee on the map, and the bottle Whisky Advocate named Artisan Whiskey of the Year. Corsair builds it from three separately smoked malts: barley smoked over cherrywood from Wisconsin, beechwood from Germany and peat from Scotland, so the smoke is layered and balanced from nose to finish rather than a single note. It is pot-distilled, aged in new charred American oak and bottled at 100 proof.Corsair describes smoke and cherry pervading the palate, finished by a slight brininess from the mossy peat, with the sweetness of an American whiskey and the rich smoke of an Islay Scotch. It uses no artificial flavor or color, getting everything from the malt, the stills and small-barrel maturation. Triple Smoke is a favorite of Scotch drinkers looking for an American peated malt and of bartenders building smoky cocktails, and it makes a memorable Penicillin or smoky Old Fashioned.
